Today marks the end of a long road. I completed my course work at BYU-I in April and took five months off. In August I began my student teaching experience which was completed in November. Today is officially the last day of my undergraduate work and I become a college graduate. Instead of walking for graduation, I've spent the past week in Las Vegas completing paperwork and getting my ducks in a row so I can move back as soon as possible. Although I don't get to experience all the pomp and circumstance that comes with graduation, I am happy to be moving on with life and begin what I have been working for the past five years in college. I wasted a lot of valuable time in college but it was worth it so I could figure out EXACTLY what I want to do with life. I took 12 credits most semesters and changed my major multiple times. I stayed an extra two semesters to take 20 credits of math courses so I could teach math if I want. After complaining about timing earlier, I can see that the timing may work out perfectly. CCSD is hiring PE teachers still and my file is almost complete. I like numbers so here is a numerical breakdown of my college career.

Yearly Reflection
While being home the past week, I have found writing to be very therapeutic so this blog thing is quite the discovery for me. The past couple days I have been thinking about the past year and thought about how quickly things have changed for me. Let's start with October 2009.
October 2009- I was still in Rexburg. I was planning on that being my last semester at BYU-Idaho for a 2 year hiatus also known as a mission. I completed my papers for the second time in my life and finally submitted them for a call. The entire month went by and I never heard anything about a mission call. I anxiously waited at the mailbox everyday for about a month.
November 2009- I finally get word about the mission. They say I cannot go because of the medication I was on for my knee surgery earlier in the year. I have to quickly scramble and figure out the next semester because plans of leaving on a mission fell through.
December 2009- I finalize my schedule for school in the winter. Figure out my plans for the next year. Recruited heavily for my winter basketball team.
January-April 2010- I was still in Rexburg and couldn't wait to get out of there. Got blown out in the championship game in March. Terrible way to end a season with a great group of girls. In April I finished my on campus experience and moved back to Kalispell, MT.
April-August 2010- I spent the summer working a part time job at Costco and spent the rest of my time on the golf course. This was a great 5 month period of the year because I had nothing to worry about or stress me out. The biggest decisions I had to make were whether to indulge and buy the Titleist Pro V1x or save money and keep playing the Bridgestone E6. It was a very difficult life ha ha.
August-November 2010- The past three months were spent in the paradise known as Las Vegas. At first I couldn't wait to leave because it was so hot but once the temperatures got below 100, I was in heaven. I met some great people while being down there (Amber, Emily, Jess, Kim, Marina, Quinn, Shawni, Tiffany, and Travis). The school I was at was incredible. My cooperating teachers taught me a lot about the profession. I had my doubts about teaching going into student teaching but through all the experiences at Greenspun, I KNOW I am in the right profession. The kids were a pain in the ars at times but for the most part they were a great group of kids except maybe one period. I had to deal with discipline problems, parent conferences, rumors about me and someone else, and not following lesson plans. Although they were not positive highlights in my semester, they were definitely learning experiences.
Present Day- Grandpa went in for heart surgery today. This has been a stressful week for the family but at the same time it is an edifying experience. Everything that has happened to me this year seems so minute to life. I remember these experiences being so devastating at the time but now they are nothing. The downs have sucked but I am thankful for those experiences. There have been many tests of faith throughout the year but they have strengthened me. I'm no longer afraid of being hurt. I am a healthy 24 year old man. Life is much more valuable than we make it out to be. Life is a precious commodity. I haven't been the best person this year. It is early for making new year's resolutions but here is mine: I want become the man my mom raised me to be.
